Lecture | Subjectivity and Identity in Experimental Cinema of the 1980s and 90s | KKC
What happens when cinema becomes a space where both aesthetic and power rules are rewritten?
The lecture will explore European experimental cinema through queer and feminist perspectives, with a particular focus on artist-led communities and alternative filmmaking practices. It explores how new technologies and independent initiatives let filmmakers work outside institutions, challenging traditional cinema norms and expanding its political and aesthetic boundaries.
The lecture will be led by Kim Knowles (United Kingdom) – Senior Lecturer at Aberystwyth University and Head of the Alternative and Experimental Cinema department.
The lecture will be held in English on Monday, April 13, at 17:30 at Kaņepes Culture Centre.
