Norwegian film YES, WE LOVE triumphs at the 2ANNAS festival!
Grand prix of the International short film competition was awarded to the Norwegian director Hallvar Witzø's short film YES, WE LOVE. It tells a story about Norway, represented by four generations each with its own crisis on the Norwegian Constitution day. The film has already received International recognition, an award form the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival: Short Film Special Distinction, and other festivals.
The 2ANNAS statuette for best animation short went to HIPOPOTAMY by Piotr Dumala (Poland), while SHIPWRECK by Morgan Knibbe (The Netherlands) received the award for best documentary short. Special mentions were presented to ELENA ASINS - GÉNESIS by Álvaro Gimenez Sarmiento, AUBADE by Mauro Carraro and BLUE THUNDER by Jean-Marc E. Roy and Philippe David Gagné.
In the International mid-length competition the main award went to VARYA (directed by Aliona Polunina). Special mention was presented to BLOOD BELOW THE SKIN directed by Jennifer Reeder.
This year the main award for the best Baltic short film was given to two films: THE FISH OF MY LIFE directed by Julius Sičiūnas (Lithuania) and HOUSE OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS directed by Priit Tender (Estonia), while three short films from Latvia - BEATS OF THE EMPTY LAND directed by Reinis Spaile, FACE directed by Jurģis Krāsons and ISLE OF SEALS directed by Edmunds Jansons received special mentions.
