Awards Announced at the 29th 2ANNAS Festival

The 29th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS has concluded with the announcement of this year’s award winners. The Grand Prix was awarded to a poetic and allegorical story from the Philippines, while the Best Baltic Short Film prize went to a Latvian documentary exploring human perceptions of the animal world.

Over 100 films from 30 countries competed across four main categories: International, Baltic, Mid-length, and Children & Youth. Additional awards were given for outstanding achievements in animation, documentary, and experimental cinema.

This year’s programme showcased bold and diverse storytelling, with filmmakers addressing existential, social, and political themes through innovative cinematic language. The winning works reflect a deep engagement with questions of identity, vulnerability, and the human condition.
