The curators of A Wall is a Screen have chosen seven different locations in Riga to screen seven different short films by international filmmakers, which through humour and environmental references will create a unique and new context for the artwork, allowing also familiar places to appear in a new light in their interactions with each other.

Only the starting point is known in advance, the films and other places remain as a surprise for the participants.

A Wall is a Screen has been presenting its unique mixture of city tours and site-specific short film programs since 2003. The founding idea of A Wall is a Screen was to counter the increasingly purely commercial use and privatization of inner-city spaces with an artistic use as an activist intervention. Free of charge, non-commercial and open to all.

The Hamburg-based collective has presented its short film tours at film festivals and in collaboration with cultural institutions around the world with more than 350 events to date.

Meeting point: Latvian National Museum of Art on Wednesday, April 9, at 21:00

Screenings will be held in original languages with English subtitles.

Admission to the event is free of charge and open to all.

Short film walk is organized with the support of the Goethe-Institut in Riga atbalstu, in collaboration with A Wall is a Screen and Latvian National Museum of Art.
