Lecture | The Right to Be Loud: Why Baltic Voices Are Exactly What the World Needs Now | KKC
The creative industry is hungry for fresh voices, authentic perspectives, and work that breaks formulas. Yet these voices often come from unexpected places – regions the industry has been trained not to notice, from creators taught to be humble about their regional identity. If an author’s voice is shaped by real history, real psychology, and real artistic integrity, keeping it quiet does a disservice to the work itself.
This lecture will explore why Baltic creators have something the world needs, and why now is the moment to claim that visibility unapologetically.
The lecture will be led by Simona Inta and Viktorija Cook – co-founders of Baltic Talent Agency, the first digital agency representing world-class Baltic creatives across film, fashion, and commercials.
The lecture will be held in English on Tuesday, April 14, at 16:00 at Kaņepes Culture Centre.

Discussion | Are Short Film Festivals Still A Counterculture?
Historically, short film festivals have been platforms rooted in experimentation and free expression, where emerging creators could dare to think and speak differently. However, nowadays, as the festival landscape becomes increasingly uniform and globalized, the question arises – can short film festivals still act as a counterforce to the "big players" and preserve their countercultural spirit?
The discussion will be moderated by Vincent Langouche (Belgium), Leuven International Short Film Festival;
The participants are:
• Lisa Heuschober (Austria),Tricky Women Tricky Realities;
• Matevž Jerman (Slovenia), FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival;
• Oisín Kealy (Ireland, the UK), Glasgow Short Film Festival
• Laima Grazdanoviča (Latvia), 2ANNAS
The discussion will be held in English on Tuesday, April 14 at 17:30 at Kaņepes Culture Centre.
