Presentation | Baltic Circuit: Inside the Region’s Film Festivals | NFS

The presentation, organized in collaboration with the Latvian Short Film Agency, will bring together the most significant short film festivals from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, offering filmmakers, producers, and students a closer look at the Baltic festival landscape.

Participants include:

  • Susanna Räim (Estonia), Student Film Festival "Best of BFM";
  • Mari Liis Keevallik (Estonia), PÖFF Shorts;
  • Johannes Lõhmus (Estonia), Valga Hot Shorts;
  • Justina Polikaityte (Lithuania), BLON Animation and Games Festival;
  • Kamilė Zinkevičiūtė (Lithuania), Šoblė Film Festival;
  • Gabrielė Cegialytė (Lithuania), Vilnius Short Film Festival;
  • Jānis Ābele (Latvia), International Student Short Film Festival "Easy to be Young?"; 
  • Lauma Kaudzīte (Latvia), Riga International Film Festival;
  • Laima Graždanoviča (Latvia), Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS.

The presentation will be held in English on Wednesday, April 15 at 14:00 at the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture.

Masterclass | Maksym Nakonechnyi: Film & Politics | KKC

Maksym Nakonechnyi is a Ukrainian director who has created both short fiction films and documentaries that have received recognition at major international festivals. In the masterclass, the director will share his creative experience, focusing on the relationship between cinema and politics, as well as reflecting on working in wartime and socially complex conditions. He will also speak about the journey of his films through the international festival circuit, offering insight into how personal and political experiences shape cinematic language, the author’s approach, and creative practice.

The masterclass will be held in English on Wednesday, April 15, at 17:30 at Kaņepes Culture Centre.
